Built in 1918 as the Sultanahmet Prison by the architect Kemaleddin Bey in the Turkish neoclassical style and reopened as a hotel in 1996, Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet stands between the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque: a yellow-washed building around a garden courtyard, refurbished in 2023, with rooms and suites, a courtyard restaurant and rooftop terraces looking over the old city and the Sea of Marmara.
