Opened in 1955 to a design by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with Sedad Hakkı Eldem, Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus in Harbiye was the first modern hotel built in Europe after the Second World War and is the longest-serving Hilton outside the United States: 499 rooms and 13 suites in gardens above the Bosphorus, with outdoor and indoor pools, tennis courts, a spa and a convention centre.
